Beaches
From the beaches of the west coast, to the wild beauty of Ribeiro do Cavalo, Sesimbra has sandy beaches for all tastes. In the Bay of Sesimbra is the one that, due to the calm waters and absence of currents, is considered "The safest beach in the country".
The coastline of Sesimbra has a unique diversity of landscapes, featuring some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. On the west coast, the territory is cut by Lagoa de Albufeira and continuing south we come across the Moinho de Baixo beach, near Aldeia do Meco, characterized by its extensive beaches, and known as one of the first naturist beaches in the country. Soon after, we see the Bicas beach, a favourite spot for surf lovers, and from there, the cliffs become increasingly high and steep, accommodating small inlets like Foz or Lagosteiros, which strike us with their beauty and geological interest. After "doubling" Cabo Espichel, the south coast will reveal small inlets of difficult access, shrouded in mystery and pirate stories. Just before reaching Sesimbra, a rock formation in the shape of a horse, identifies one of the most beautiful beaches of Portugal - Ribeiro do Cavalo. Access to this paradise can be done by boat or along a path on the mountain, which in addition to some physical preparation, requires good knowledge of the site. Continuing along the coastline we come to the Bay of Sesimbra, where nautical and leisure activities coexist with the fishing gear and traditions.
